In recognition of 8 March as International Women’s Day 2023, IP Europe celebrates the invaluable role of women in innovation and technology and the clear societal benefits that this delivers.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” This statement highlights the vital role that innovation and technology play in achieving gender equality and advancing diversity and inclusion as a whole. IP Europe embraces this goal and recognizes the importance of supporting women in IP and in the digital ecosystem in pursuit of a better future for everyone. 

UN Women have underlined that “a persistent gender gap in digital access keeps women from unlocking technology’s full potential” and that “the underrepresentation of women in STEM education and careers remains a major barrier to their participation in tech design and governance”.  IP Europe supports equality in those engaged in and benefitting from innovation, technology and the IP systems underpinning them.  Innovation and technology are enriched for everyone when they reflect the diversity of our society.
