IPProPatents: European Commission seeks SEP group members
The European Commission has set up a group to consider licensing and valuations of standard-essential patents (SEPs). The SEP group was created by the commission to “deepen the expertise on evolving industry practices related to the licensing of SEPs in the context of the digitalisation of the economy”.
The SEP group will also ensure “the sound valuation of IP and to help better understanding of Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) licensing terms”.
Those interested in membership of the SEP group are able to submit an application by 20 August. The Commission is seeking up to 15 members who have “substantial experience in licensing and/or valuation of SEPs”. At least two-thirds of them are to be individuals appointed in a personal capacity. (…)
